If it is true that it takes all kinds to make a world, then the best place to find it is Antibes Juan-les-Pins. Ideally located in the very heart of the French Riviera between Nice and Cannes, just a few minutes from the Nice-Côte d’Azur International Airport, the city of the ‘Joy of Living’ so dear to Picasso has become one of the French Riviera’s most coveted destinations. Floating on the Mediterranean, the town cultivates its difference…
Plaisirs pluriels
Old walls enhanced by history in this ancient Provençal town whose charm and authenticity captivated Jacques Prévert, Nicolas de Staël, Graham Green and so many other artists, luxuriant estates on Cap d’Antibes which is home to great celebrities, white sandy beaches facing the immense sea... Here, gentle temptations are everywhere with their countless pleasures. In the narrow streets, the sun plays on the leaves while the Provençal market offers the infinite diversity of its flavours amid the spicy fragrances of eternal Provence...
Shopping in the city streets, lunch in the sun or a romantic dinner, exploring picturesque little hinterland villages, sipping a drink on a bustling terrace, sport on the beach and in the water, a visit to Marineland, Europe’s top marine park with its sea lions, dolphins, killer whales and sharks, nightlife renowned the world over and cosmopolitan clientele attracted by the unique atmosphere; everything is accessible to visitors. Plus, for those who love to tease Lady Luck, L’Eden Casino, La Siesta and their tempting pleasures...
City of the arts
Antibes Juan-les-Pins is also a City of the Arts, in all their modernity and diversity. It features many museums. The Picasso Museum, the first one dedicated to the artist in his lifetime, houses an exceptional collection of creations he made in Antibes, along with works by the likes of Nicolas de Staël and Hans Hartung. The Peynet Museum is dedicated to another artist who adopted Antibes, Raymond Peynet, who created the famous lovers. Other interesting tours include the Fort Carré, a remarkable defensive complex that evolved over the centuries and was completed by Vauban, the Archaeology Museum which displays remains of the ancient Greek and Roman town of Antipolis found on land and in the sea, the Napoleon Museum and its collections evoking the career of the Emperor who had once lived in Antibes with his family when he was still General Bonaparte, Musée de la Tour and its folk art, along with the Postcard Museum (Musée de la Carte Postale) and the Bains-Douches exhibition area.
Nature in all its splendour
A pristine coastline and seafloor, protected flora and fauna, parks and gardens, a carefully preserved green lung in the service of the population at Cap d’Antibes, La Garoupe, La Valmasque and the Fort Carré… Here, Nature unveils all its splendour and is accessible to all, as attested, among other things by the creation of a coastal underwater trail in the Bay of Juan or the Tire-Poil footpath around Cap d’Antibes, one of the most famous on the Riviera lined by sumptuous estates surrounded by luxuriant vegetation. They include Villa Eilenroc, a true conservatory of plants offering visitors its eleven-hectare grounds and its rose garden, with the fragrances and essences of thousands of roses created in Antibes Juan-les-Pins.
With the sea as its horizon
In terms of tourist activity, yachting is unquestionably one of the French Riviera’s main assets. The largest yachting and business harbour in Europe for the tonnage of its boats and its advanced technology, Port Vauban, inaugurated in 1971, received one of the first twelve ‘Blue Flags’ awarded by the Environmental Education Foundation for European ports. With its Billionaires’ Wharf (Quai des Milliardaires), it remains a MUST in the region, able to accommodate the world’s largest, finest craft. Nearby, at the entrance to the legendary Cap d’Antibes, Port Gallice, also awarded a ‘Blue Flag’, opens on the Bay of Juan-les-Pins, international capital of a certain thirst for living life to the hilt with many fine luxury hotels.
A city of events
Throughout the year, Antibes Juan-les-Pins offers events galore to satisfy even the most demanding : International Jazz Festival, Festivals of Sacred Art, Musiques au Coeur,Antibes Génération Virtuoses, International Festival of Bridge,World Festival of Underwater Images, Vieil Antibes Antique Show, Voiles d’Antibes... Insolent and ‘jet-set’, the Alpes-Maritimes’s second largest city is all cities rolled into one, with a prestigious heritage as well as youth and economic dynamism, with the Sophia-Antipolis Science Park and its avant-garde.
Research and Development enterprises. A town with human warmth that has preserved and enhanced its exceptional heritage while preserving its soul and authenticity: a town of all temptations, Antibes Juanles-Pins keeps its promises.
