Villefranche sur Mer / Eze

From the moment of your arrival, be it by corniche road, by sea or by train, the renowned Côte d’Azur town of Villefranche-sur-Mer offers an awe-inspiring panorama.

The dazzling town of Villefranche with its port and 16th century citadel, at the foot of a vast rocky amphitheatre and with the majestic sweep of its shoreline, has retained many traces of its origins that, with the constant variety of its colours, have made it the town of painters and artists.

As a maritime town in a privileged location, it has become one of the principal tourist ports of the Côte d’Azur, stop-over point for many cruise ships, but it is still the picturesque and ever-changing fishing port, also shelter of a flotilla of small pleasure-craft.

The charm of Villefranche is also due to the mildness of its climate, the environmental aspect that gives rise to the exuberance and spectacular display of its remarkable vegetation.

Lastly, Villefranche-sur-mer is fortunate to have a varied gastronomy which combinates local cooking and fresh fish from the Mediterranean sea

Eze sur mer
The territory of Èze covers all three Corniche roads, from the sea (“Bord de Mer”) to the Grande Corniche, with its mediaeval village atop a rocky spur overlooking the Mediterranean.

The mediaeval village offers its narrow streets lined with the studios of artists and craftsmen. At the summit, the ruins of the mediaeval fortress are home to an exotic garden with several hundred plants. The panorama covers the entire French Riviera all the way to Saint-Tropez.

In Èze-Bord-de-Mer, a maritime pine grove stands along the little shingle beach.
